LIFE BEFORE CHRIST

Hi, my name is Alexus Green. I was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI. I grew up going to Catholic schools most of my life and I graduated from Riverside High School C/O 2015. I continued my education at Marquette University where I received my Bachelors Degree in Social Work and a minor in Sociology in 2019. I made the decision to further my education and attend the University of Milwaukee-Wisconsin (UWM) where I received my Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) 2020. In 2021, I started my first big girl job as a therapist and have been with this company ever since.
I’m sure my life and credentials may seem great but times were not always the best. However, I do thank God for getting me through! Like many of us, I have experienced trauma, abuse, addiction, witnessing violence and much more. I’m here today to not only share my testimony with the world but my prayer is that after reading this you feel encouraged (and perhaps give your life to Christ, of course). My testimony is nothing short of the glory of God. And I’m so thankful that God saved a wretch like me. Like most girls, I grew up with 'daddy issues.' My innocence was also taken from me at a young age by numerous accounts of sexual assault and am encounter of rape. From there, the enemy slithered into my life like the sneaky snake he is. I allowed men to ruin my holy temple (my body). I truly didn't love myself yet alone did I see myself as God sees me. There were so many tears, so many heart breaks and so much pain. I constantly searched for something to fill a void and a broken piece of me that only God could fill.
One day, in 2022, my desires began to change. The things that I once loved and enjoyed, no longer satisfied me. I began to notice that I didn’t enjoy the drinking, the clubs, the bars, the sex etc. and it made me feel uncomfortable. At the time, I was unsure why or what was going on. But I understand now that God was preparing me for this journey before I truly accepted Him into my life. In 2023, I found a church home where I was baptized June 3, 2023. Once I was dipped in that water there was no turning back and let's just say, God did his big one! Today, I am still far from perfect but I am closer to God. I understand that I am nothing without Him. I understand that there is nothing that I can do without him. And I'm finally understanding that God doesn't want our perfect; He doesn't want the glam or the aesthetics. But He wants the mess, the trauma, the tears, the sin etc. God only wants our YES; yes to Him, yes to His ways and yes to His love. Jesus died on the cross of each and every one of us. He knows us by each hair on our head, He kew us before we were formed in our mothers wounds and He knows the plans for our lives. So, what better way to honor the man who died for you than to live your life for him?
